My dayz community died out and i let my server expire so i sometimes just come to the forums to try and answer questions i can. but thanks, this should help others im sure!
make sure its using the latest version of dayz and epoch(im guessing your using epoch) as i believe those files are controlled by the epoch build itself. i had an error before similar and it was due to it using an older version of epoch than what my client was using. once i updated the server...
does it work sometimes or never? make sure the BEC has been setup properly to use MOTD and scheduled events. my problem was i didnt notice the # before option which commented it out and ignored it all together and once i removed the #s on things i wanted it to do, things worked perfectly.
since i no longer have a server up and files to take a quick look at, might i suggest comparing the description files of the servers? think that was the proper file but it had a lot of load screens and loading stuff related in it, maybe they have another portion of code that may stick out when...

or you can use phpmyadmin but...

this is just a shot in the dark, since i am still using 1.0.1.5 but did the database tables get updated? i know the traders run off the database tables.
I know this isnt what you want to hear, but I told my server community we are not updating to the new 1.0.2x of epoch until at least a couple months after its release, i said the first day it was released there is going to be tons of mods that dont work, and things that did will probably break...
I find it best to run a test server thats running a mirror copy of your current server. i used to wait for players to get off to work on things, but it became annoying very quickly. so i made a mirror of my server and made it a test server. so i do all my updates and new mod testing on there...
