New to map editing

Hey guys,

I just recently started contemplating a mod of DayZ along with a friend, and I brought on myself the part of customizing our map a bit. So this weekend I've been watching countless tutorials on map editing as well as going through many guides and threads on this forum and others, but some things I just don't understand.

I'm kinda hoping this could be a thread for just plain stupid questions (most of it, I guess). Basically I think there's stuff that isn't really outspoken in any guides, but that are assumed that a modder should know through "doing". Well, I'm that 1% that doesn't. :) ANYHOW!

1st problem: I can't seem to lock my objects (aka vehicles) in the map that I've customized. I use the built-in 3D editor, and I've made sure that the "Locked" alternative is checked under the settings of the object as well as confirmed later in the code that it's so. Still, when applying them to our server and checking them out, I can move them as I want. Simply put: I want them to be frozen into the environment, dead objects. The vehicle types ranges from barbed wire to graves to deer stands.

2nd problem: Please forgive me for being retarded, but I can't seem to find the DayZ Chernarus customizations. As it is, I want to have the current content still (eg the little outpost with tents next to Balota airfield). I've been looking through all the PBO's and addons for suspicious files and lines, but I can't find it. So I suspect that it's been merged in with the Dayz version of the map somehow, but... well, I'm gonna shut up now so that I don't look even more stupid.

I'm very thankful for any help that I can get. If anyone wants to bash me, that's allright too. As long as I find some answers to my dilemmas. =)
 
1st problem: I don't understand quite what you mean? You can move barbed wire and deer stands in game?

Sorry for being unclear.

On the 1st problem: in DayZ throughout Chernarus there are objects that have been added to the map and is not originally part of Chernarus. For example we have crashed cars all over the map, as well as military and medic tents. These are in DayZ locked into the map and can't be moved by a player. This is what I'm trying to achieve, but I can't find a way to lock/freeze them. And earlier mentioned method (checking Locked in the vehicle edit menu) does not work for me.

On 2nd problem: thanks a lot. I will read through it once I get home from work. =)

EDIT: I took a few minutes to read through that thread. It seems to me that my 2 problems could be related in some indirect way. Seeing it as the DayZ team didn't use vehicles to customize Chernarus, but rather objects.

Could it be that eg barbed wire can be both a vehicle and an object? And that being an object means it's locked and vehicle meaning interactable?
